John P. BrackinJohn P. Brackin grew up in Greenwood, Miss., and was educated at the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tenn. He attended college at Auburn University, where he graduated Cum Laude in 1994 with a B.A. in Psychology. In 2003, he published his first book, Stealth Patrol: The Making of a Vietnam Ranger, which he coauthored with Sgt. Bill Shanahan of the 75th Infantry Rangers. It was named a Finalist for the Army Historical Foundation's Distinguished Writing Award, as well as a Military Book Club selection and a Colby Award nominee. 

John's writing has also appeared in a number of publications, including Alabama Living, Cobblestone, General Aviation News, The Southern Aviator, Family Motor Coaching, The Chronicle of the Old West, Funds for Writers, Back Porch Magazine, Panic Attack, and most frequently, the Alabaster Newsletter in Alabaster, Ala.
